The Faculty is delighted to announce that it will be joining the School Tasking outreach project, based on the concept of the award-winning Channel 4 TV show Taskmaster.
The School Tasking project is being run by over 30 universities across the UK and Ireland, having been developed by Dr Ali Struthers at Warwick Law School. Participating Year 5 classes are split into teams of 5-6 to compete against each other, other local schools, and, ultimately, other schools across the country in a bid to be crowned that year’s School Tasking Champions! During the in-school sessions, classes are introduced to some of the most interesting areas of law and are given a chance to practise key skills, such as teamwork, communication, and lateral thinking. Just as in the TV show, Taskmaster, School Tasking provides the opportunity for all children to shine based on their particular talents and skills.
School Tasking is an outreach project for schools identified as less advantaged and who meet certain eligibility criteria. The project will be led by the Faculty's Outreach, Widening Participation and Communications Coordinator Maria Kazani as part of our wide range of outreach and widening participation activities. Current students will be recruited to volunteer to run sessions at a local school which partners with the project.
Alex Horne, who is a critically-acclaimed writer and comedian and is also the creator of the Taskmaster show, is a Classics alumn of Sidney Sussex College.
