Myths that I had heard before were very untrue. Meeting actual students made me feel that I would fit in

The Faculty annually hosts the Sutton Trust summer school for approximately twenty five sixth-form students from around the country.

The Sutton Trust works to combat educational inequality and prevent the subsequent waste of talent. They are particularly concerned with breaking the link between educational opportunities and family background, and in realising a system in which young people are given the chance to prosper, regardless of their family background, school or neighbourhood. Low social mobility and lack of educational opportunity is arguably the biggest social challenge of our times: the income gap between the richest and poorest in society continues to widen, while education opportunities remain overwhelmingly dominated by children from the most privileged homes.

I thought it'd be really posh but it's not and is much more relaxed and welcoming that I had anticipated. It's a shame really because it's much easier to moan about something than actually liking it...a lot

The one week taster course consists not only of seminars and tutorials, but also a varied programme of social activities, to give participants an accurate idea of life as an undergraduate at the Faculty.

Students are taught by leading experts about a wide variety of legal topics, including criminal law, tort, contract and international law.

The week culminates in a mock trial featuring the 'death' of a student at the Cambridge Faculty of Law, with students playing all the major roles, including solicitors, barristers, witnesses and the defendant.

For more information about the scheme please refer to the Trust's website.  There is also more information at the University's website, and you can apply online.

I already wanted to study at Cambridge, but this week has made me certain
