The Faculty is proud to announce the success of two of our academics who were awarded prizes in the Cambridge Students Union Student-Led Teaching Awards at a ceremony on Wednesday, with Dr Jodi Gardner and Dr Andrew Sanger both receiving awards.

The SLT awards exist to reward outstanding teaching and student support across Cambridge. This year, the SU received just under 400 nominations, which truly is a testament to all the amazing work done by university staff and clearly demonstrates the gratitude felt by students.

The shortlist and winners were decided by panels of students, and the winners in each of the nine categories were announced a ceremony held at St Barnabas Church on Wednesday.

Nominating Jodi for her award in 'Working in Partnership with Students', MCL student Yi Kang Choo explained:

"As the One Young World Cambridge Society founder, I would like to express how supportive, helpful, and encouraging Jodi has been throughout our project. Jodi...has always been so patient & encouraging whenever I was presenting my ideas to her, but she always takes the extra mile to provide concrete support and suggestions to ensure that we can realise our dreams/goals. Her involvement in our projects really empowered us to move forward, and I think she's the perfect example of how a lecturer/member of the University can really bring about so much change in the life of students when we partnered up together."

Responding to her award, Jodi said:

"I was absolutely honoured to be nominated for this award, and it was such a surprise to win amongst many inspiring individuals. Working in partnership with students is the best part of being a Cambridge academic - I feel incredibly privileged to have won an award for doing something that I love. Thank you to the students who nominated me, and to the Faculty of Law and St John's College for their ongoing support and assistance".

Current Academic Secretary Andrew Sanger was the winner of the 'Small-Group Teaching (Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences)' award.

Andrew was nominated by Tripos student Oscar Aubugeau-Williams, and he responded by saying:

"It was a huge honour just to be nominated, let alone to receive the Award, not least because there are so many wonderful supervisors out there. Teaching is a privilege and a real pleasure, and I feel very lucky to have such kind, engaged, thoughtful and intelligent students. I am incredibly grateful to all of them — past and present — and in particular to the Corpus students who nominated me, and to everyone who made the Student-Led Awards happen."
