Professor Lorand Bartels MBE was invited to give evidence to the Parliamentary International Agreements Committee, on Tuesday 6 May.
The Committee scrutinises all treaties that are laid before Parliament under the terms of the Constitutional Reform and Governance Act 2010 and considers the Government's conduct of negotiations with states and other international partners.
Professor Bartels was joined as a witness by Professor Holger Hestermeyer (Professor of International and EU Law at the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, and door tenant at Monckton Chambers) and Professor Emily Jones (Professor of Practice in Public Policy, Blavatnik School of Governance at University of Oxford).
Lorand Bartels is Professor of International Law, and has published several books on international trade law, including Bilateral and Regional Trade Agreements, 2 vols (Cambridge, 2016), co-edited with Simon Lester and Bryan Mercurio.
